Program Overview


VA Direct Home Loans for Native American Veterans Living on Trust Lands is a program that provides Native American Veterans with a reduced-rate mortgage loan with no down payment. Property must be located on a Native American trust land. If an applicant's location is not on a trust land, a Memorandum of Understanding may be requested to add that location as a trust land.


Who is eligible for this program?


This program is available to eligible Native American Veterans who wish to purchase or construct a home on trust lands. The income of a Veteran and spouse, if any, must be stable and sufficient to meet mortgage payments, cover other expenses of owning a home, take care of other obligations and expenses and must have enough left over for family support. There are no income limits. This program is to be used toward the purchase, construction, or improvement of a home on Native American Trust Lands.

Allowable property types: Single family residence, manufactured homes on permanent foundations


Benefit Details


Up to $80,000 or the cost of the home, whichever is less, is available.

Benefit: This program provides Native American Veterans a reduced interest rate on a mortgage of up to $80,000 with no down payment requirement.
Loan Term:30 years
Owner Occupancy Required:Yes
Other Program Comments:Homebuyer Counseling/Education may be required depending on the tribe. Contact Winston-Salem office for certificate of eligibility.
