USDA Home Repair Program

Program Overview

USDA Home Repair Program is a program intended to serve individuals with home repair needs. This program can provide either a grant or a loan to homeowners. Funds can only be used to remove health and safety hazards or to provide accessibility in the home. This program is available nationwide.

Who is eligible for this program?

Loan recipients must have sufficient income to repay the loan. Grant recipients must be 62 years of age or older and be unable to repay a loan for that part of the assistance received as a grant. Income limits vary for both the grant and the loan. For more information, contact USDA at 406.585.2515. Program funds must be used to repair, improve, or modernize dwellings or to remove health and safety hazards. Grant funds are only available to homeowners aged 62 or older who cannot repay a loan. This includes repairs or replacement of heating, plumbing or electrical services, roof or basic structure as well as water and waste disposal systems, and weatherization. Benefit Details

Lifetime grant assistance cannot exceed $7,500. Loan amounts cannot exceed $20,000. Benefit: Lifetime grant assistance cannot exceed $7,500. Loans are amortized up to 20 years and carry a 1% interest rate. Loan amounts cannot exceed $20,000. Homebuyer Counseling / Education Required: No Owner Occupancy Required: Yes
